A vanilla sponge, coloured green (my son's favourite colour) and sculpted into the shape of Halo's Master Chief's helmet by making a dome cake (cooking the cake mix in a pyrex bowl) plus a round cake cut in half for the peak with notches cut out and the rest cut up and assembled for the chin piece. Covered in fondant icing I tinted green with black details. The visor was made from white fondant then painted with gold lustre made into a paint with clear alcohol.
I'm very happily married with 4 children. 3 boys and a girl. The boys are 24, 23 and 11 and my daughter is 15. The eldest son is engaged and left the Navy to work on civilian ships; most wonderfully he has given me my first Grandson as of the end of March 2013 so I'm now officially a Grandma; so happy. My second eldest son joined the Navy as of October 2013 too; so proud. My daughter is in her final exam year and my youngest son is now at secondary school; where does the time go? I love making things from cakes to cards, knitting to scrapbooking and miniatures. I trained as a primary school teacher but 6 years later and filling in for others or supply teaching I've given up on teaching; at least I have more time for crafting and my new Grandson.
